One of the major challenges that health providers in many developing world locations face is the lack of current medical textbooks and other medical information. Printed material can be heavy, bulky, and expensive. If imported through normal channels or hand-carried by visiting medical teams, they may take space that might be used for other necessary things.

Since 2003, Global HELP (Health Education using Low-cost Publications) has tried to address that need by providing quality medical literature through other venues. Their Global HELP DVD library now has over 100 publications that are 100% free for worldwide use. Most of the material is in English, but some is in Spanish and other languages. The main emphasis is helping children. See their website for details.
