Millennium Promise helped establish and actively supported the Millennium Development Goals between 2000 and 2015. Quoting a recent posting on their website: “Millennium Promise is the leading international non-profit organization solely committed to accelerating achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and the eradication of extreme poverty, hunger, and preventable disease.” Currently they are focusing on ten countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Earth Institute (at Columbia University) is closely affiliated with them and is described as “the world’s leading academic center for the study of the Earth, its environment, and society.”
Many partners (individuals, organizations, and governments) are providing financial and other support to Millennium Promise (see their website for details). More are welcome.
Now those efforts are being continued, if and when appropriate, through the SDG’s.
