According to the World Health Organization, over 59 million people in the world neeed a wheelchair but do not have one. Founded in 1995, UCP Wheels for Humanity has provided appropriately fitted wheelchairs and quality of life services to over 50,000 children and adults with physical disabilities in 72 developing countries. They also serve as an advocate and capacity-building partner to local organizations so that together there can be community-based systems that create long-term change. UCP Wheels for Humanity estimates that over 350,000 people have been impacted by their work as of January 2016.
Used wheelchairs and other mobility devices are gratefully accepted at their warehouse where volunteers restore them as needed.
