An estimated 2.6 million people around the world — mostly women and children — die each year from complications caused by inhaling the smoke from polluting cookstoves. Many more millions are sickened by it. This organization (formerly known as the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves) is supported by over 1,000 partners — including 38 national governments and agencies of the United Nations, seeks to make a positive difference in this crisis by creating a thriving global market for clean cooking solutions and by enabling 100 million households to adapt clean cookstoves and fuels by 2020. This is an initiative led by the United Nations Foundation.
