Hundreds of millions of adolescent girls and women in developing countries do not have sanitary pads or other safe, sustainable products for their menstrual periods. The result: missed days of school during that time, infections due to unhygeniec solutions, and a perpetual cycle of poverty and shame. This is especially true where there are not private toilets.
Since 2008, Days For Girls has helped over one million girls address this problem by providing reuseable feminine hygiene kits that last up to three years along with related education and social enterprise training. Often volunteers across the U.S. and some other countries make these kits for overseas distribution. For more information, see their website.
