Established in 1964 as an outgrowth of President John F. Kennedy’s Alliance for Progress, they seek to help address a wide range of problems throughout Latin America and foster a greater exhange between individuals and organizations within the Western Hemisphere. Main areas of focus include Food Security and Agricultural Development, Sport for Development, Youth and Children, Climate Change and Environmental Protection, Professional Leadership Exchanges, Civil Society and Governance, Women and Gender Equality, and Volunteer Engagement.
Every U.S. President, from Kennedy through President Obama, has supported Partners of the Americas.
