They help facilitate opportunities for volunteers to be part of medical care and health education teams going to developing countries. Both medical and non-medical people who are willing to commit two weeks are welcome to apply. Since 1994, they have sent more than 2,000 volunteers overseas. Those volunteers provided health education for tens of thousands of citizens and thousands of health care providers, treated more than 80,000 patients, performed surgical procedures, did dental work, collected and provided over 75 million dollars worth of medicines and medical supplies, and gave other health services.
