The letters VIDA stand for Volunteers for Inter-American Development, and they specialize in sending donated medical supplies to hospitals and clinics in 12 countries in Latin America. Their biggest emphasis is helping Peru.
Since 1991, VIDA USA has sent over 350 million dollars worth of medical supplies–mostly from sources in the San Francisco and Oakland area. Their website shows the kinds of things they want (and don’t want) and gives much more information about them.
