Undernutrition is the number one cause of preventable child deaths. Making vitamins available to children in need is the most immediate and cost-effective way to create a healthier world. This year they are helping over 60 million women and children.
Since 1994, this non-profit organization has helped at risk populations in need — specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five — gain access to lifesaving vitamins and minerals. A related program helps children get very inexpensive anti-worm pills called albendazole that only need to be used twice annually. They are working through a network of over 700 nongovernmental organization partners in almost every U.S. state and over 50 countries worldwide. See their website for more details.
