2,100,000 and 146,000

Those are the numbers of the estimated people in the world who have contracted or died of the Corona virus as of April 17, 2020. It is the biggest pandemic in 0ver 100 years, and virtually every country has been affected. China (where it is believed to have originated) is at the top of the list. Italy, Spain, various other European countries, and Iran rank high on it. Now it has come to the United States with a vengeance, and every one of our 50 states has lost people as a result. Fortunately, most are able to recover within 10 to 14 days if given proper medical treatment.

I personally know one woman in my church who was hospitalized with it for about two weeks. The wife of the man who used to be my barber died of it.

One thing that disturbs me as an American is the fact that although there is a huge amount of attention being paid to the virus in the U.S., almost nothing is being said about its destructiveness overseas — especially in developing countries.

This morning I got an e-mail from someone in Myanmar Republic who found my website. He was looking for medical supplies. Under other circumstances, I might be able to help him find some. All I can do now is to suggest that he look through the “Medical Supplies and Medical Technologies” category on it in hopes that there might be an organization that can assist him. The one closest to me (World Medical Relief) is only operating local programs for the time being.

I pray that we never see anything like this again.
